Phase two.....still painting.

The next part of the painting I wanted to get done was along the side from the bottom rubbing strake up to just onto the cabin side.
Three days of rubbing down to remove rust using a battery drill with wire brush attachments and palm sander all but wore me out, my poor old knees felt like they would never recover.
Once it was all done to primer stage I had a rain day force a rest, I was happy with that.

I am also happy with the outcome, although there were times I wished I'd bought a shorter, newer boat :-)
I am staying put here another few days to give the paint time to harden a little before re-fixing buttons and fenders and adding some non slip painted sections along the top of the gunnels. It is quite a nice quiet spot apart from the odd Oxford hire boats bouncing of the side of my boat, one of which has hit me twice, with different hirers on both occasions, that particular boat mus be attracted to mine!

Once I move on I have to find somewhere on the other side of the canal, or turn around somewhere, to enable me to start on the other side, deep joy, I can't wait ;-) then next year (maybe) I have to tackle the cabin sides themselves, that'll be fun!
