Project complete......

.....finally.

Yesterday a phone call informed me my mattress would be with me between 10 and 10:30. A second call at 10:30 told me the van had arrived and I walked over the bridge to collect it. It was compressed and rolled to fit into a polythene bag about 4’6” long and 18” in diameter, carrying it was awkward with nothing to grip hold of but I got it safely to the boat, unwrapped it and left it for 6 hours to expand back to the full size before making up the bed.
A snug fit at the bow end but it works and when slid back against the wardrobe,
room enough to use the bow doors, a success.

Last night I slept in the new bed and was pleased, no irritating joints from made up sections or decorative buttons to feel beneath me, but the most pleasant thing was not having to dismantle it when I awoke this morning and rebuild it tonight! I am happy and I have my saloon back without a pile of bedding taking up space.

I had intended to move on today to find a rural spot and do a bit of external painting on the stern deck which has rusted again (there is always something to do) but a text from my youngest daughter has saved me from that for now, a visit has been arranged, my ex wife, daughter and granddaughter are coming to see me on Friday and as this location is convenient for access with the nice pub opposite we can lunch there, so I am staying put until Saturday.

Now where is the warm weather!
