Not much happening at the moment as I regroup before heading of towards Reading, I am wanting to arrive there next Friday so time to take it easy for a few days.
A trip to 'The Laundery Basket' did not go well, I have a machine but prefer to use the launderette where possible, the machine beeped and the 'operating' light went out, I opened the door to find it hadn't spun, a call to the only phone number I could find resulted in the lady mumbling something and hanging up, obviously not her problem! so I had to transfer the sopping load into another machine and run the cycle again, oh well at least it's all very clean :-)
Yesterday I texted the fuel boat and enquired about a rough arrival time, 3-4 came the reply, he arrived around 7pm having been stuck at a broken swing bridge for a few hours, luckily for him I was his last delivery.
During the day I changed the engine oil, checked the gearbox oil, tightened the stern gland (it prevents water getting in around the propeller shaft) and tightened up my morse controller (gear and throttle lever) which had worked a bit loose, always small jobs to do!
I was feeling like I should be doing something else today, so I tackled raising the rear fenders which have sagged since I fitted them last year, I was holding off doing it until I could paint behind them but that requires a weeks mooring really and the rudder just catching the top of the fender was becoming annoying!
About two hours of struggling but I got there! they are awkward to handle, you need three hands, in my case a length of chain and a couple of padlocks prevented the possible disaster of dropping one in the cut whilst trying to get the shackles in position.

A bit more clearance now! |
