A nice easy trip.

I want to be in Newbury tomorrow so I can meet the fuel boat 'Ozzie' who should be there Friday, so with that in mind a fairly short hop to Kintbury today seemed to be the best idea and setting off around 9:15 should mean an arrival time of about 11:30 to fit in with my theory of space at visitor moorings, so that was when we left Hungerford.
Bridge 84 leaving Hungerford, the property on the left
has a walkway from the bridge to it's front door.
Bridge 83 with the service point just the other side of it.
It was a very quiet run through, we never passed another moving boat and apart from me having to close both lock gates at most of the locks, because the 'non-used' one opened as I exited, it was very sedate and uneventful.
Leaving Dunmill lock (75)
This is another fairly typical scene on this part of the Kennet and Avon, trees one side and high vegetation on the other obscuring any views, even cyclists and walkers cannot be seen as you pootle along.
Approaching Kintbury it did not look very favourable with quite a few boats moored on the towpath outskirts, but these are mostly boaters who wish to stay longer than the time limited visitor mooorings allow.
Coming through bridge 76 I was able to see there was space for at least three boats on the end of the visitor moorings and a few more further along and it was about 11:15 so my theory had worked again and all was good.

Tonight's mooring:
Room for one behind me, it was filled a half hour or so after I arrived.

Totals today : 3 miles : 3 locks

Having moored and had a coffee and some lunch I decided to have a pint in the Dundas Arms, we had stopped here on the way down and I quite liked the pub and the beer, I was disappointed with the beer this time though, a different brew to the one I had before and not to my liking, still I sat in the garden for a while and watched a couple of maggot drowners catching some teeny weeny fish before heading back to the boat and reading a book on the bow deck with a glass of red, now the real work begins as I have to prepare my evening meal, what a life :-)
