TV, a trim, a win and a fail

After not having a TV signal on my little Necvox antenna for a couple of weeks again I was beginning to wonder if it was working at all, but I was pleased to find even though my mooring is right outside these flats
That's me this end
that I had BBC albeit a bit temperamental, because this weekend was the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Can you see me now ?
Qualifying was due to begin at 12:10 so in the morning I did some shopping at Asda and also found a great bargain store on the Nene Valley Industrial estate called ‘Family Bargains’, not everything is cheap so prudent price watching needed but my receipt for about 10 items was of the ?9p variety, either 49p or 99p I think their pricing machine must insist the price ends with a 9p J

Shopping done I stood on the stern deck having a cuppa and was chatting to a dog walker when about 12 I was treated to a flypast by the Red Arrows (they knew I was here) directly above me and quite low with two at the front and the remaining 7 following in an arrow formation, they were heading for Silverstone I guessed, sadly no camera to hand.

When qualifying had ended I went in search of a barbers, Google said the nearest was miles away on the far side of the town so I walked up to the first potential road nearby and there was a unisex hairdresser so I enquired if they could do a quick trim, fully booked, I asked if she knew any others and she said “there are 6 more in this road alone” well done Google, at the third time of asking a very nice lady fitted me in while one lady customer waited for her aluminium head dress to harden and another waited for her coffee to cool down, mine was all done in about 10 minutes and I had a laugh talking to all three of them, £7 well my flabber was well and truly gasted and as she had no change I gave her £10 in exchange for the trim and a lollypop.

Today started with a full English breakfast as it’s Sunday, a bit of hand washing, a bit of cleaning and thinking I was clever at 11:50 camera in hand I stood waiting outside my boat for another flypast, Tv coverage of the race was 12:15 so I thought ‘I will wait until 12:30 and if they don’t appear give up’ at about 12 again I heard a distant roar and stood up switched my camera on and I think they flew over about 5 miles away, I heard something but saw nothing, a great idea failed.

Anyway a great race, well done Lewis.
Now to prepare my prawn salad for dinner to be washed down with a chilled beer.
